About Kate Dickson and Sarah Hartkorn

Kate Dickson and Sarah Hartkorn are the co-founders of Primped, a web and mobile platform where women can book vetted, top-rated freelance beauty professionals to receive beauty services (manicures, hair styling, waxing, etc.) anywhere, anytime. The pair met while completing the MBA program at the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University in pursuit of finance careers. A few years later, while working for two of Canada’s Big Six financial institutions, Sarah and Kate were both finding it difficult to make time for regular beauty treatments — manicures, waxes, hair styling, etc. — because of their demanding, rigid schedules. Frustrated by the landscape for booking and receiving beauty needs, they began searching for a quick way to access quality options, book with individuals rather than establishments, and take travel- and access-related logistics out of the equation. No such platform existed, so they built their own. Their solution is Primped.

While investment banking is part of her former life, Sarah still loves crunching numbers in excel, intensely researching, engaging with investors, and meeting other founders. One of the most fulfilling parts of her entrepreneur journey is the meaningful impact Primped has had on the many beauty professionals seeking a sustainable career in freelancing. When Sarah is not busy building Primped, she's running outside, cooking up a new recipe, being an overly competitive participant in a ‘friendly’ games night, or planning her next travel destination. In addition to holding an MBA with a specialization in Finance, she holds a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies degree from Western University.

Kate has moved into a more creative role than her background may have lent itself too, as she oversees all of the digital marketing and strategy at Primped, and she loves it! Outside of Primped, Kate loves getting outside being active as well as traveling.
